Acting Director of NREM Center
Message from the Director
I am very pleased to introduce this new and attractive web site, which has been developed by our NREM Center staff. We hope that you will find it informative and that it will stimulate your further interest in our Center, its current activities, and plans for the future.
Mae Fah Luang University NREM Center was established at the university as an independent unit in October, 2005, with the objective of providing high-quality graduate education and training in NREM for Thailand and our neighboring countries in the GMS. The Center will shortly open two new, innovative Graduate Programs (at the Master’s and Doctoral levels) in NREM, with the degrees being awarded by the School of Management.
The Center has also established a consortium of leading universities in all GMS countries (the GMS/UniNet on NREM) to provide training, and for the conduct of collaborative research. The Center is developing research on priority NREM issues and is currently working with the Asian Development Bank (and others) on GMS Core Environment Program, starting with a major project relating to Biodiversity Conservation (The Biodiversity Conservation Corridors Initiative) in the GMS.
During its short existence, the Center has arranged a major Regional Seminar (in January, 2006), a successful National Technical Seminar (in May, 2006), and a Local Seminar (in September, 2006), indicating the high level of activity of the Center, as it embarks on its ambitious development program.
We welcome your enquiries and involvement in our activities. Please join with us to solve key NREM and NREM-related issues facing Thailand and the GMS.
