Admission Procedure for International Students
1. Admission Requirements
A High School Certificate or equivalent to grade 12, with a good command of English.
2. Application Procedure
Submission of Application
Application can be submitted anytime from now until April 10, 2008

Simply download and print the application from www.mfu.ac.th, then send the completed form to Division of International Affairs, Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Rai 57100, Thailand or email : inter@mfu.ac.th

Simply download and attached the completed application form and required documents to inter@mfu.ac.th

Apply in Person
Simply download and print the appropriate application from www.mfu.ac.th, then bring the completed form to Division of International Affairs, Mae Fah Luang University, Tel 66-53-916-0
3. Supporting Documents
One copy of each of the following documents is required. All documents should be
in English or have a certified translation.
- A recent 1-inch photograph
- A copy of Passport
- Certified Copy of Bachelors Degree Transcript
- English Proficiency Score Report (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.), if available
- Financial Statement/Scholarship Documents
- Application Fee (300 Baht)

5. Admission Procedure

Notification of Application Receipt and Status
Applicants will be notified of the receipt of their application and status by email or mail.

Selection Procedure
The selection criteria will be based on the admission documents, transcripts, grade point average or high school score. Background of each subject, majors may require as additional documents for consideration.

Letter of Acceptance and Confirmation of Acceptance
For successful applicants, the notification of admission is done by
e-mail or mail, within 3-4 weeks after the confirmation of acceptance.
Non-Thai student will need the confirmation of admission letter from MFU in order to apply for a Non-Immigration ED (education) Visa from the Royal Thai Government (RTG) Embassy or Consulate office. Students should allow at least one month for this process.
6. Orientation Weeks.
Mae Fah Luang University provide three weeks orientation How to Live and Learn in Campus. International Students who are accepted by Schools are recommended to attend this event.
7. Accommodation
First year students are required to stay in the dormitory and are requested to submit the application for the dormitory.
8. Transportation
Transportation outside university.

MFU provides the university van to pick up from Chiang Rai Airport / Bus station to MFU (free of charge)

The public bus from MFU to Town (15 Baht / trip)

Things to do before getting started at MFLU

Pick up a registration form and tuition fee invoice (Division of Registration and Evaluation)

Recheck your registration and tuition fees payment and sign in the student register (Division of Registration and Evaluation)

Scan your fingerprints and receive your student password (the Center for Information Technology Service)

Open a bank account and acquire a student ID card at the Bank of Ayudhya Plc., MFLU branch (D1 Building)

Make a reservation for accommodation (The Office of Student Dormitory)

Transferring from another University
If you want to transfer to Mae Fah Luang University from another University you must make a written request, enclosing a transcript and a letter of approval from your current university. Approval of transfer can be lengthy process, requiring as it does the exchange of a significant number of documents between the universities. With this in mind, you are advised to submit your initial written request, together with the transcript and letter of approval, at least 60 days prior to the start of the semester in which you wish to commence your program of study.
Obtaining a Visa
Once your application to study at MFU has been approved, you will need to obtain a Non-Immigrant ED visa to enter Thailand . This visa can be extended once your studies have commenced. DO NOT enter Thailand on a tourist or transit visa as these are not issued for study purposes and cannot be extended to cover the entire duration of your period of study. Please Note: Foreign nationals studying on a student visa are not eligible for a work permit and therefore cannot legally work while studying in Thailand
The documents required for a visa are:
- A copy of the official letter of acceptance from MFLU
- Two recent 4 X 6 cm passport size photos (less than 6 months old)
- A copy of your passport-information page(s)
- A Medical Certificate (less than 6 months old) Visa fee
