Special Seminar: Novel Bioactive Fungal Metabolites
Dr. Masaniko Isaka, PhD Organic Chemistry.
Tokyo Institute of Technology.
Work as researcher in BIOTEC for 15 years.

On September 14, 2011, Dr Masakiko Isaka visited the School of Science and gave a special seminar on the topic “Novel Bioactive Fungal Metabolites”.
Bioactive compounds from fungi have a potential for a pro-drug discovery. Recently, many of fungal metabolites were reported on anti-malaria, anti-tuberculosis (anti-TB), anti-cancer and antibiotics activities. Mushroom is another untapped resources of unknown bioactive compounds and it is in the front line for natural products research.
