มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวงต้อนรับคณะอนุกรรมการวุฒิสภา ร่วมหารือขับเคลื่อนงานวิจัยแก้ปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมภาคเหนือ

มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวงให้การต้อนรับคณะอนุกรรมการเสริมสร้าง ขับเคลื่อนและติดตามการดำเนินงานด้านวิจัยและพัฒนาของวุฒิสภา นำโดยนายบุญส่ง น้อยโสภณ รองประธานวุฒิสภาคนที่สอง เข้าศึกษาดูงานและประชุมหารือเพื่อติดตามการดำเนินงานตามโครงการเชื่อมโยงข้อมูลผลงานวิชาการและงานวิจัย เมื่อวันที่ 25 ธันวาคม 2568 ณ ห้องดอยตุง อาคารวันชัย ศิริชนะ (AD1) มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวง จังหวัดเชียงราย

ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.มัชฌิมา นราดิศร อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวง พร้อมด้วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.สุจิตรา วงศ์เกษมจิตต์ รองอธิการบดี และนายกานต์กุญช์ บำรุงชาติ หัวหน้าส่วนบริหารงานวิจัย สถาบันวิจัยและนวัตกรรม ให้การต้อนรับและนำเสนอภาพรวมการดำเนินงานวิจัยของมหาวิทยาลัย

การประชุมครั้งนี้เน้นการนำเสนอผลงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการแก้ปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมในภาคเหนือ โดยเฉพาะประเด็นแร่แรร์เอิร์ธ มลพิษในแม่น้ำกก และปัญหาฝุ่นและหมอกควัน ซึ่งเป็นประเด็นสำคัญที่ส่งผลกระทบต่อคุณภาพชีวิตของประชาชนในพื้นที่

คณาจารย์นำเสนอผลงานวิจัยที่หลากหลาย อาทิ การพัฒนาระบบบำบัดน้ำปนเปื้อนโลหะหนักสำหรับภาคเกษตร การประเมินผลกระทบต่อสุขภาพของเด็กวัยเรียนในพื้นที่ลุ่มน้ำแม่น้ำกก การใช้กลไกสิทธิมนุษยชนระหว่างประเทศเพื่อคุ้มครองผู้ได้รับผลกระทบจากมลพิษข้ามแดน รวมถึงการเสริมสร้างความมั่นคงทางอาหารของชุมชนริมแม่น้ำโขง และการนำองค์ความรู้จากภูมิปัญญาชนเผ่าไปขยายผลในการจัดการปัญหาฝุ่นควันและไฟป่า

ทั้งนี้มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวงได้ดำเนินการวิจัยและพัฒนาเพื่อแก้ปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมในระดับพื้นที่ โดยบูรณาการความรู้จากหลายศาสตร์ ทั้งด้านวิทยาศาสตร์สุขภาพ วิทยาศาสตร์ นิติศาสตร์ นวัตกรรมสังคม และการจัดการ เพื่อสร้างนวัตกรรมและข้อเสนอนโยบายสาธารณะที่สอดคล้องกับพระราชบัญญัติอากาศสะอาด และตอบโจทย์ปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมที่เกิดขึ้นจริงในพื้นที่ ซึ่งจะนำไปสู่ความเป็นอยู่ที่ยั่งยืนของประชาชนในภาคเหนือตอนบนและอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มน้ำโขง

MFU Hosts Senate Subcommittee to Advance Environmental Research in Northern Thailand

Mae Fah Luang University welcomed a delegation from the Senate Subcommittee on Research and Development Enhancement, Implementation and Monitoring, led by Mr. Boonsong Noisophon, Second Vice President of the Senate, for a study visit and policy consultation on December 25, 2025. The visit was held at the Doi Tung Room, Vanchai Sirichana Building (AD1), Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Rai Province, as part of efforts to follow up on the Academic and Research Output Linkage Project.

The delegation was received by Assistant Professor Dr. Matchima Naradisorn, President of Mae Fah Luang University, together with Professor Dr. Sujitra Wongkesemjit, Vice President, and Mr. Karnkoon Bamrungchart, Head of Research Administration Division, Research and Innovation Institute. The university leadership presented an overview of MFU's research operations and its role in addressing regional and national challenges.

Discussion during the meeting highlighted MFU’s research contributions to addressing pressing environmental issues in northern Thailand, with a particular emphasis on rare earth mineral concerns, pollution in the Kok River, and air pollution caused by dust and haze—issues that have significant implications for public health, ecosystems, and quality of life of local communities.

Faculty members showcased a wide range of interdisciplinary research initiatives, including the development of treatment systems for heavy metal-contaminated water in agricultural areas; health impact assessments of school-age children living in the Kok River basin; the use of international human rights mechanisms to protect communities affected by transboundary pollution; initiatives to strengthen food security among the Mekong River communities; and the integration of indigenous wisdom to mitigate haze, forest fires, and pollution.

Mae Fah Luang University underscores its long-term commitment to area-based environmental research and development through the integration of expertise across health sciences, science and technology, law, social innovation, and management. This interdisciplinary approach supports the creation of practical innovations and evidence-based public policy recommendations aligned with Thailand’s Clean Air Act, contributing to sustainable livelihoods in upper northern Thailand and the Greater Mekong Subregion.
